Last weekend at church we started to sing this song… I know its been around a while but I haven’t kept up with the Passion albums lately and so missed this song.
It seems that this song was written by a band from Northern Ireland called Bluetree, who incidentally will be at Rocknations in Bradford this summer.
Its a great song, lyrically and melodically, soaring to the hook of the chorus that has been going round my head all week…
One thought occurs to me though… can you sing this song without feeling a slight fraud if you’re church is not in a city. Maybe its just me being pedantic, but I’ve always had trouble singing lyrics that don’t ring true for me.
Its a shame because the song is killer…

89 days agoya, I bought this CD when it first came out…we play God Of This City as well. I discovered Passion about 2 years ago but I love Passion 08 (God of This City) they tour here in the states and came to my city (LA)
But ya, it’s an awesome album.

89 days agoI don’t know if you know the story behind the song…
But it’s essentially a prophetic word over Pattaya Thailand, whose notorious sex trade broke the hearts of the Bluetree band. They had an opportunity to play a show in a bar there, and the lead singer said he started to think about what God would be saying to this city, right now. Thus, the song was born.
The song is relevant, as it is prophetic. It’s almost heralding an impending revival. Whether or not your church is in a city is superficial, the fact is, wherever you are there is more to be done, and god is god there.
